Dr. Yu Liang is a translational scientist with more than 20 years of experience spanning biomarker development, oncology research, and precision medicine. His career has integrated preclinical and clinical development programs, supporting biomarker strategies and translational frameworks that have contributed to multiple IND submissions and regulatory milestones.

Dr. Liang previously served as Director of Clinical Biomarkers at Compugen, where he led cross-functional teams supporting immuno-oncology programs and the clinical development of immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting PVRIG and TIGIT. During this period, he contributed to biomarker and assay development strategies across multiple clinical studies, including advancing anti-IL18BP immunotherapy through pre-IND and IND stages culminating in FDA clearance for first-in-human clinical development.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Liang held translational science and biomarker leadership roles at Ipsen, Calithera Biosciences, and Pharmacyclics (AbbVie), where he supported biomarker programs across multiple oncology trials, including work contributing to FDA approvals for several indications of ibrutinib.

He also held scientific positions at Life Technologies and Applied Biosystems, where his work focused on molecular diagnostics, genomic assay development, and translational research applications for both research and in vitro diagnostic platforms.

Dr. Liang completed postdoctoral training in translational research and molecular profiling of brain cancers within the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He earned his PhD in Pharmacology from the New York University School of Medicine, where his doctoral research focused on proteoglycan biology within the central nervous system.

At FireGate Biotech, Dr. Liang serves as Program Lead for FG-003, guiding translational strategy, biomarker integration, and experimental design for FireGate’s neuro-immune repair program.
